Beach Volleyball : Holland 2 - England 0 02/08/2011
Pubbles invited PINT and a group of Dutch Scouts who are staying in Crawley down for a game of Beach Volleyball at the courts in Beach House Gardens. Due to a booking cock-up, we were unable to play on the artificial sand, so did what all good Scouts would do and went and improvised on the sand.... After a couple of enjoyable games of volleyball in mixed teams, we then played some england vs Holland matches and were well and truly beaten by the Dutch 2-0... After games of Dodgeball (played properly) and some larking about, we retired to a local hostelry to take part in the pub quiz (a first for the dutch and slightly different for the landlady). Despite our natural disadvantages, we won the free drink round, and also second place - winning £15. More Photos Add Comment Code of Conduct 25/07/2011
As a network, we've had a number of discussions about a Code of Conduct for ourselves, so we all know the rules we're playing by... http://www.pubbles.org.uk/code-of-conduct.html is our current code. On the 19th July, Pubbles took the opportunity to support the Explorer Scouts of Worthing in their end-of-term party, which like last year was at Arundel Lido. Network cooked the BBQs and fed the 60-odd explorer scouts and their ravenous leaders a range of BBQ food, before taking part in the point of the day... investing more network members So welcome to all the new network members.... Pubbles offered a challenge up to Crawley (PINT) Network for a game of laser quest at Laser Hub, Crawley... The Network had a weekend "Chill Out" camp in Crawley, the name should perhaps have been "Wash Out" camp as the weather was not kind to us... On the Friday we went up to Crawley, set up camp, sat around the campfire and chatted and had a meal of fatytas in both vege and meat varieties and generally had a good relax... After a night of nearly continuous rain, the decision was made that camp was just going to be boring... so we went exploring into Crawley, purchased necessary supplies and decided to go and see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at the local cinema.... On the Saturday evening we were joined by two more network members who decided to make fires their evening activity... After a night of chatting and more, we retired before rising in the morning for a good breakfast and disappearing around lunchtime... Gilwell 24 10/07/2011
A number of Pubbles members went along to help staff Gilwell 24, which is the national explorer scout event... New activities this year include brush surfing... Wine Tasting 05/07/2011
Taking advantage of a GroupOn offer, we had a gentleman from Pieroth come down to Network and introduced some of our members to an interesting range of wines, from their BLS white wine which went down quite well, to some rose that were universally admired. The meeting proved that we have a wide variety of taste in wines, with some people having no real idea, to some more of a connoisseur.... Quoits & BBQ 21/06/2011
Pubbles decided to try out a programme idea from the Network supplement of Scouting Magazine - Aberdeen Network goes quoits crazy. Since the weather was supposed to be good then the pernial favourite, the beach BBQ also came into play... After much frustration about trying to make a Quoit and some equipment failures with the net, we got a game going... but decided that it was quite hard work and modified it with a ball to make it easier... At this stage the BBQ very kindly lent by 1st Ferring was well under way and cooking food for those who wanted it. After a while of getting blown around on the greensward, we retired to the mulberry to teach one of our newest members Zoe how to play pool (and get thrashed by her). Network on a Hike 07/06/2011
Pubbles Network decided to do what all good scouts do sometimes, go and explore the countryside... Starting from the highest point in Worthing, they hiked off into the countryside before doing a swift about turn and heading back towards civilisation... Pirates of the Carribean 24/05/2011
